ETHOS INSPIRATIONS: COMFORT
THE NATURE OF COMFORT When we speak of comfort we often are talking about the verb definition which is "To ease grief or distress, and at minimum to console with words or deed. In this regard we can even see a resemble of this in the animal kingdom, but the scriptures within this video speak of a form of comfort that expands into the next dimension.
This form of comfort is powerful in that it operates in the physical and the spiritual realm, it is more than mere words of console, but touches the depth of our hearts and soul. This comfort can truly change lives, and provide strength to endure.
This form of comfort is beyond just the physical, it touches a place that is only accessible to mankind, for animals were created without a capacity to receive this comfort, the fallen angels of the rebellion and their leader Satan are beyond the justice to partake, and the loyal angelic legions of God have no need in their eternal blessed nature for comfort.
Thus this comfort is for fallen mankind who having mind body and soul requires something more potent than accessible by animals. Being in the image of God, gives us a sense of our eternity, as well as our physical mortality, a convergence of concepts that bombards us with a conscience of sin.
Spiritual comfort deals with the unique nature of man to suffer distress from four dynamic origins at once:
1. From the past as we remember past deeds or lost and are filled with grief or regrets
2. From the present as we encounter new troubles, lost or engage in new deeds of sin for which we can grief or regret.
3. From the ever lurking future as we imagine potential lost or troubles and not even being there we simulate a form of grief form the future into our present.
4. Finally for the unbeliever the real sensation in the deepest reaches of their mind that screams the guilt of their unredeemed sin nature, rebellion and offense against God through the rejection of Christ.
